Why did Ellen Barkin and Ronald Perelman divorce?
The pair met at a Vanity Fair Oscar after-party in 1999 and got married in June 2000. Their marriage seemed to have troubles of its own because Perelman filed for divorce in early 2006.
According to the press, Perelman’s real motivation was to avoid a clause in his prenuptial that would raise the amount in alimony he owed Barkin if he had waited a few days more.
Their divorce was finalized in 2006.

In order to get revenge on her ex-husband, she decided to take the jewelry he gave to her during their marriage and turn it into profit.
In October 2006, “Magnificent Jewels from the Collection of Ellen Barkin” featured 102 pieces including her diamond wedding ring. They were sold for $20,369,200 at Christie’s, New York.
