Sony Michel (born February 17, 1995) is an American football running back for the National Football League’s Los Angeles Chargers (NFL).

He attended Georgia University and was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He played three seasons for the Patriots, winning a Super Bowl title in Super Bowl LIII and scoring the game’s only touchdown. Michel was traded to the Los Angeles Rams and won Super Bowl LVI with them in 2021. The following offseason, he signed with the Miami Dolphins but was released before the season began. He later signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.

The New England Patriots selected Michel with the 31st overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He was the third running back chosen that year. Furthermore, he was the third of six Georgia Bulldogs chosen that year. Michel and Isaiah Wynn were the first pair of college teammates selected in the first round by the same team since Auburn teammates Jason Campbell and Carlos Rogers were selected by the Washington Redskins in the 2005 NFL Draft.
