It’s like you applied the deeper philosophical meaning of the speech to the sub and the more surface level coercion stuff to the dub, when both exist in both versions. The speech was supposed to be coercive. Erwin needed to convince the soldiers to ride to their deaths.

While his rookie recruits and tattered remnants of the scouts didn’t give him a clapback following his speech, Erwin certainly deserves one from the audience. What did Erwin say when he said “Everyone dies”?
When Erwin was talking to his troops about the meaning of their dreams and actions, he exclaimed that it’s true that everyone dies but does that entail that we’ve all led meaningless lives?
This line is perhaps the most iconic thing that Erwin has said to his troops. As he charged heroically with his troops into a lost battle, he used his words to motivate them and let them know that their death will not be in vain.
That’s why, just before the mission to recover Eren, he told his troops that if there is any chance for humanity to prevail against the Titans, it’s by having Eren on their side.
As they all went in to attack the Female Titan, the troops had to retreat. It was at that moment that Erwin said something utterly brilliant. He immediately deduced that since no one actually saw a person inside the Female Titan get eaten, they must be wearing our uniform right this minute.

In “The Perfect Game,” Erwin comes up with the perfect plan to take down the Beast Titan. However, he is aware that he has to risk his life and the lives of his new recruits to do so. In a brief moment of despair, he expresses his dismay over not being able to see what’s in Eren’s basement.
Unfortunately, the operation did not go as planned because the Female Titan used a special “scream” to alert every single Titan in the area.
