Syoka Siko ID’d as Victim in a Brooklyn Park shooting

A senior basketball player at Park Center High School in the Twin Cities, Syoka Siko, 17, was shot and killed last week in Brooklyn Park.

Syoka, a young man from Brooklyn Park, was shot and killed on Sunday, and the city’s mayor, Lisa Jacobson, expressed her sadness over the tragedy in a Facebook post on Sunday. “Syoka was an all-around great person and a star player. He had a lot of affection for his mom and dad, his siblings, his friends, and his sports teams. It’s heartbreaking to think of how much his passing must hurt those closest to him.”

Jacobson referred his fanbase to a fundraising page set up for Siko’s loved ones on GoFundMe.

Two 17-year-olds were shot at a Brooklyn Park apartment complex on the 8400 block of Regent Ave. N on Friday night, and their vehicle was found abandoned on the exit ramp to 53rd Ave. N off I-94 in north Minneapolis.

The arrest of a 17-year-old on charges of complicity in murder was announced by police on Saturday.

“It’s possible that some suspects are still at large, but nobody’s in imminent danger. The culprits and victims were likely acquainted with one another, suggesting that this was not an unprovoked attack “the cops supplemented.

When Park Center’s boys basketball team won the Class AAAA state championship last year, Siko was a junior on the squad. The Park Centers Boys Basketball team tweeted in April that they had a 6’1” guard with a 3.6 GPA.

Park Center boys’ basketball coach and Hopkins High School principal James Ware sent an email statement to Bring Me The News in which he said, “We are grieving, Syoka was an amazing kid, and we are trying to support our kids, families, and community that are hurting around such a senseless loss of young life.”

According to a tweet from Chris Paul’s national camp in 2019, Siko was there.
