Rep. Jesus Rosa Garcia , D-Ill., announced in a statement published on Tuesday morning that his daughter passed away on Monday evening.
Rosa, our cherished daughter, passed away last night at the age of 28. We are devastated to the core,” Garcia said.
Rosa, a young girl who had been in foster care, joined our household. We made every effort to give her a secure, warm, and welcoming environment. In this most trying moment, our family requests your privacy and appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
Garcia and his wife Evelyn had three daughters, with Rosa being the youngest.
There was no mention of the reason of death. The details of the funeral have not been released.
In addition, Garcia released a message in Spanish:
“Our beloved daughter Rosa passed away today at the age of 28. Our entire family is in complete disbelief. Rosa joined our family when she was a young child who had been in the temporal emergence system. We did everything we could to provide them with a secure, loving, and accommodating home. In this difficult time, our family requests privacy and appreciates your thoughts and prayers.
On the day of Chicago’s mayoral runoff, the news was made. Garcia stood for mayor and finished fourth in the Feb. 28 first-round voting.
