Today, the Nepalese entertainment sector lost a wonderful artist.
Unexpectedly, rock band Robin and The New Revolution’s creator, singer, musician, and actor Robin Tamang of Nepal passed away.
Who was Robin Tamang?
Robin Tamang, a singer, guitarist, actor, and the leader of the rock group Robin and The New Revolution, was from Nepal. He was also an actor who appeared in several Nepalese movies. He was well-known for his role as Yama Nadu in the ‘The Last Hour’ series on Amazon Prime.
Tamang was the youngest of five children born to a family who served in the British Army and was born in Singapore. Tamang spent parts of his childhood living in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Brunei as a result of his father’s postings to various locations.
Jimi Hendrix and Deep Purple were inspirations for him while he was attending school in Singapore. Midway through the 1980s, while he was a student at Humber College in Toronto, he started his second band, Tamang, and played shows all over the city.
He went back to Nepal in 1996 to live with his father in Pokhara, where he also joined the rock group Looza. Looza performed with them for a while before breaking up in 2005.
Then he carried on and founded Robin and the New Revolution with additional musicians, including Rajesh on drums, Dipesh on guitar, Prabin on bass, and Tamang on vocals. They jointly published the hugely successful “Keta Keti” record, which garnered him a sizable fan base.
Despite being well-known and well-liked as a singer, he has acted in the gangster film “Chadke” in Nepal. He claims that acting and music are related to the natural human expression of emotion. Despite his appearance in a film, he has no plans to quit his job as a musician.
