Paul Funk, the beloved principal of Dennis-Yarmouth, passed away suddenly on Saturday morning.
Funk, a graduate of Wakefield High School, played baseball for the University of Connecticut in college. After that, he worked at Everett as a teacher and assistant football coach before moving south.

Prior to taking on his role as principal, Funk spent more than 20 years at Dennis-Yarmouth as the football coach and athletic director. The Dolphins won two Super Bowls and went 125-64-1 during his tenure as head coach from 2001 to 2018.
He took the difficult choice to leave his positions as football coach and athletic director after the 2018 season in order to take the principal’s position.
“Down here, football has played a significant role in my life.
But at this moment in my life, (being principal) was something that was crucial for me and my family.

Funk, who resided with his wife and three children at Duxbury High, was slated to take over as the school’s principal.
