Champaign Police were dispatched at 4:52 p.m. for a report of a shooting with injuries.
Shortly after officers arrived at the reported scene, a teen girl victim arrived at an area hospital by personal transport. Additional units immediately responded to the hospital.
The victim had sustained multiple gunshots, including one life-threatening wound to the torso and another wound to the leg.
The initial investigation indicates that the victim was walking when two unknown subjects in masks approached on foot and opened fire. After striking the victim, the subjects ran away, quickly leaving the area.
Champaign Police say that charges have been filed against two males following the homicide.
The Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office charged 16 year old Thomas Woodson as an adult with four counts of Murder, one count of Attempted Murder, and one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
On November 29, 2022, Keshawn Brown, 17, was also charged as an adult with multiple counts of Murder in relation to this case.
Both remain in custody awaiting trial.
