Micah was born on February 2, 1976 in Mattoon, Illinois, and he has spent the majority of his life there, where he has worked, raised his family, and enjoyed life. Micah’s birthday is February 2.
His mother, Gloria (Hutchins) Evans, his children Remington (Lynae) Morrison and Raven Morrison, and his siblings Teri (Greg) Benham, Matthew Morrison, and Mitchell Morrison, all of Mattoon, Illinois, as well as Mitchell Morrison of San Diego, California, are among his surviving family members. In addition, he leaves behind his devoted and loving dog, Koko, as well as three nephews, four nieces, six great-nephews and great-nieces, and a great-great-nephew.
Micah’s grandparents, James (Sr.) and Odette Hutchins of Mattoon, along with his little pug and best friend of many years, Cash, passed away before him. Micah was the youngest of four children.
He worked in construction for a number of years (a profession that he learnt from his grandfather), was employed at Mattoon Precision for a significant amount of time, and has spent the entirety of his most recent years working as a Journeyman with Carpenters Union Local 243.
Micah was an avid outdoorsman who spent as much time as he could fishing and hunting. He never missed an opportunity to do either of these activities. In spite of the fact that this was his “go-to” activity, the one thing that brought him the most happiness in this life was unquestionably being able to spend time with his children. That was the catalyst for many joyful family vacations that the family spent many hours behind the wheel hauling Raven to various softball competitions around the country. Many relationships that will last a lifetime were forged throughout these journeys. Micah viewed many of the girls who played on Raven’s teams to be an additional daughter, and he would go to any lengths to help any of the players on those teams.
When Micah was around, you could always bank on there being something going on at all times, so there was never a dull moment. It didn’t matter who you were or who else was in the room; he was always going to be 100 percent himself, and you just never knew what kind of hilarious comments would come out during those conversations. He didn’t care who you were or who else was there.
Micah’s children were great students, and he was especially proud of all that they had accomplished outside of the sport of softball. They were truly his greatest source of happiness, and he did an excellent job of being there for them in every way and teaching them to be diligent workers and devoted friends, just as he was to a great many people. He did an amazing job.
Micah, despite the fact that he frequently presented a harsh appearance, had a kind and generous heart on the inside. Whether it was helping someone change the brake pads on their car or mowing someone else’s lawn, he would frequently engage in acts of unselfish generosity for individuals in his immediate environment, which you might not always witness.
It is impossible to put into words the immense void that has been left behind by the loss of his life. So many people will miss him terribly and cherish his memory for the rest of their lives. In the future, we look forward to being reunited with him in glory.
Donations made in his memory and honor may be sent to his family to be put toward Raven’s higher education expenses when she becomes older. You are welcome to share your sympathies with the Schilling Funeral Home by visiting either their website () or their Facebook page.
