Following a fatal car accident on Saturday in Mecklenburg County, the victims have been named as Kendall Ross and his wife, Lillian Hennes.
Ross, 29, was killed and his wife, a former third-grade teacher, was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle collision on a Saturday night in Charlotte. The other involved DUI driver has been named as 23-year-old Alejandro Gomez.
According to reports, Ross was driving a Hyundai on Saturday when a speeding and intoxicated driver of a Nissan Sentra collided with the Hyundai on Central Avenue near Briar Creek Road in Charlotte’s Plaza Midwood area.
Ross, a senior chef for a corporation and a touring cook for the musicians Rod Stewart and Ed Sheeran, was declared dead at the scene from blunt force trauma.
Hennes was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
According to Ross’ Instagram, he recently oversaw a kitchen for the Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.
According to CMPD, Gomez and his companion were taken to a local hospital with minor wounds.
According to CMPD, Gomez was detained and charged with felony vehicular death, assault with a deadly weapon causing severe injury, and reckless driving.
The accident’s reason is still being looked into.
