On March 20, 2023, Dr. Joel Martin Aganan Beltran, age 63, passed away suddenly.
Joel Beltran was born in Manila, Philippines, on January 30, 1960. He is the son of Jose and Lydia (Aganan) Beltran.
Joel went to Michigan State University for his college studies as well as his medical school training. He also met Katie Herrington there, the passion of his life. They were wed on June 15, 1991, and their marriage lasted for 31 years. He spent his entire tenure as a Neurologist with Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw.
Joel’s family and his patients were his two biggest loves in life, and he gave them everything he had. He will be known for his outrageous sense of humor and his aptitude for making jokes about almost anything.
Joel is survived by his beloved wife, Katie Beltran; loving children, Benjamin (Amy) Beltran and Sarah Beltran; mother, Lydia Beltran; siblings, Jofre (Aimee) Beltran and Lynn (Jack) Furlong; mother-in-law, Donalda Herrington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Matt Herrington, Tim (Diana) Herrington, and Pete (Jodi) Herrington; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and last, but certainly not least, his adored dog, Max.
Visitation will be held at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602, on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, March 25, 2023, visitation will last until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw, MI 48603. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie.
