Jochum suffered blunt force trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.
After the young man passed away, the following Facebook post was made in his honor:
It is with heavy heart that I post this message. My son Jacob Jochum died in a car accident last night. Neither did Jacob drink nor use drugs.
He attended church by himself. Not to draw attention to myself or my family, but rather to ask everyone who reads this to do the following
Celebrate your kids and let them know every day how much you value them.
live to assist them in realizing their aspirations.
Be a pillar of support for them when they are struggling.
Finally, show them nothing but love.
I am being selfish by wanting to spend more time with and see my child every day. Nobody deserves this tragedy, and I hope that it brings your family some clarity in a divided and tormented world. Blessings from God
