Season 5, Episode 18 of Toddlers & Tiaras introduced us to Mama June when her then 6-year-old daughter, Alana, was taking part in a children’s pageant in Chicago. Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, made viewers become acquainted with Alana, the ‘honey boo boo child,’ and Mama June’s family adventures.
Who Is Mama June? Mama June’s real name is June Edith Shannon, and she was born on August 10, 1979, and raised in Georgia USA. June is the mother to Alana Thompson, Anna Cardwell, Jessica Shannon, and Lauryn Shannon; all featured in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo reality TV series.
“Alana made that choice to stay in that environment,” Mama June, 42, said of Lauryn’s guardianship while promoting the family’s WE tv reality series, “Mama June: Road to Redemption.” Mama June claimed that no specific incident resulted in the court granting Lauryn custody of Alana. “People don’t understand the custody thing.
In August, Alana will turn 16 years old, and, with the exception of Mama June’s drama, it appears that Alana lives a pretty normal life — and it’s all thanks to her sister Pumpkin. Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon married her husband, Joshua Efird, shortly after they welcomed their daughter Ella in December of 2017.
What happened to Mama June?
Back in March 2019, June and boyfriend Geno Doak were arrested on drug possession charges, including possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia charges in Alabama. The Mama June: From Not to Hot stars have since focused on their sobriety while living in Florida.
