In a separate, unrelated incident, a 12-year-old boy tragically lost his life, and three teenagers sustained injuries in a collision involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a pickup truck in North Texas.
Investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety were called to the scene, where they discovered that Wyatt Randle, the 12-year-old boy, had passed away at the accident site. The incident unfolded near Waxahachie, as reported by WFAA-TV. Wyatt was a passenger on the ATV, which was being operated by a 16-year-old girl and carried two 14-year-old boys, as detailed by the television station. Unfortunately, none of the youths were wearing seatbelts, as confirmed by the DPS.
The collision took place near the intersection of Boz Road and Greathouse Road in Ellis County, with the ATV failing to stop at a sign and colliding with the passenger side of the Ford Ranger pickup, according to KXAS-TV. This resulted in the ejection of all occupants from the ATV.
Sgt. William Lockridge of the Texas Department of Public Safety clarified that, in this tragic incident, the pickup truck had the right of way, as reported by KFDW-TV. Remarkably, the 70-year-old driver of the pickup and his 70-year-old wife escaped without serious injuries, with the vehicle’s airbags deploying upon impact, KDFW-TV disclosed.
One of the 14-year-old boys is currently in critical condition at a Fort Worth hospital, according to WFAA. The conditions of the other two teenagers remain unknown, as all three were transported to hospitals in Dallas, as reported by the television station.
