Lorelai reluctantly agrees and a tiny sliver of hope for a relationship with her parents begins. Eventually, through Rory, Lorelai meets Max Medina, an English professor at Chilton High. They begin to date and things start to heat up between them. After a few months of dating, Max proposes to Lorelai first in the heat of the moment after a fight which Lorelai refuses and then second after he realizes he can’t live without her. Everything was set for the big day and all was going according to plan but Lorelai had a change of heart. She woke Rory during the early morning hours and suggested they take a road trip. Rory, confused, asked what was wrong and Lorelai replied that the wedding was off.
As a teenager, Lorelai dated Christopher Hayden, son of Straub and Francine Hayden, while in high school, and became pregnant right before her society debut (at age 16), which embarrassed and disappointed her parents.
In spite of the strained relationship she has with Emily and Richard, Lorelai is aware of how much she hurt her parents by running away . The rebelliousness of her teen years stayed with her in adulthood. As they both grew up, Lorelai and Rory’s relationship evolved into the relationship of two best friends or sisters, rather than parent and child. Lorelai states that their relationship is best friends first, mother daughter second. Lorelai would only use the “mom card” as a last resort. In 2000 Lorelai needs to borrow a very large sum of money for Rory’s education at the exclusive Chilton Academy and accepts her parents’ terms for the first time, beginning to see them regularly at the mandatory Friday Night Dinners. Lorelai repays her parents for the loan when a real estate investment that Richard had made in her name at the time of her birth paid off, but Rory makes her own arrangement with her grandparents for Yale tuition. Lorelai continues to attend occasional Friday night dinners, partly as a way to see Rory while she is busy at Yale.
The three share an odd, but loving relationship and grow closer as the years go on. Sookie and Lorelai’s friendship has become a very intensely devoted friendship. Lorelai also creates a strong bond with another local resident, Luke Danes. He is the owner of the town’s local diner, Luke’s Diner.
Jason and Lorelai know each other from childhood. Jason’s father is one of Richard’s partners and Lorelai and Jason both attended camp together. Jason pursues Lorelai and they begin a secret affair, partially fueled by the rebellious nature of the affair.
Lorelai is a highly talkative, free-spirited woman, a child of the eighties and part of the MTV generation.
Christopher and Lorelai met at age 6 and soon became best friends. They began dating in their teenage years and Lorelai became pregnant at 16. Because he is Rory’s father and comes from “good breeding”, Lorelai’s parents approve of Christopher and continually push her to pursue a relationship with him.

Why does Lorelai get mad at Logan?
Lorelai doesn’t like the way that Rory’s life is going, as she doesn’t approve of Logan thanks to his rich background, and she gets really mad when Rory wants to leave Yale for a while. Rory is insistent that she knows what she’s doing, but fans wonder why she’s making these choices.
Lorelai is definitely sad about the prospect of Rory flying the nest, but she does her best to handle her fears and nerves about the situation.
From the pilot of Gilmore Girls, viewers know that Lorelai is a cool mom and that she and Rory have a very different relationship from other parents and children. They talk fast, can finish each other’s thoughts and sentences, and have fun eating junk food and hosting movie nights.
When did Lorelai and Christopher reunite?
By the time Lorelai and Christopher reunited in season 7, she should have known they weren’t going to last. It never ended well when those two were together, even platonically. When one of them had feelings for the other and tried to act on them, someone usually ended up getting hurt.
Lorelai called Christopher the night before her wedding to Max. That relationship was never going to work out because the two men never even met. However, Lorelai felt she deserved to meet Christopher ‘s girlfriend, Sherry, even though she thought she had been ready to make a bigger commitment to Max.
Rune was insulting to Lorelai from the beginning of the evening, and he never got any better. The point of it was really to give Lorelai and Luke a chance to flirt at the end of the night and Rune to storm off, once again being rude. However, that didn’t explain why Lorelai managed to last long enough to make it to Luke’s Diner for that to happen. Considering how Rune acted toward her, she should have left mid-date and Sookie should have completely understood.
Luke had no reason not to share the development in his life with Lorelai because not only was it something that affected their relationship, but it was also from a time before they were together. It wasn’t like Lorelai would be angry about his past.
It took four seasons for Luke and Lorelai to kiss and get together. Then, things seemed to be going well for the two of them. They got engaged and they promised they wouldn’t keep secrets from each other. Then, Luke found out that he had a daughter from a previous relationship.
Then, when things fell apart between Luke and Lorelai in season 6 , rather than take time to be by herself, she turned to her ex-boyfriend. While it’s understandable that Lorelai didn’t want to be alone following the heartbreak, she really should’ve thought about her actions more.
Something that remained constant throughout Gilmore Girls, whether Luke and Lorelai were together or not, was that they had problems communicating. The nearly 10 years that passed between the original series finale and the revival didn’t change that.
What is Lorelai and Rory’s character?

In the final season of the original series, Lorelai and Christopher jet off to Paris, where they impulsively get married. When Lorelai returns home and informs Rory and the rest of Stars Hollow, including Luke that she and Christopher are married she gets mixed reactions. Rory is upset at first, but comes around since she all she really wants is her mom (and for that matter her dad) to be happy. Throughout the season, Christopher and Lorelai face some significant problems, the biggest one is when Lorelai needs to write a character reference for Luke so he can partial custody of his daughter, April. Christopher finds a draft of the letter and when reading it, he realizes that Lorelai still loves Luke. Lorelai tries to deny it, but the both soon realize that they’re better off as friends. In the end, Lorelai reunites with Luke. She realizes how much she loves Luke when she finds out that he was the one who planned Rory’s goodbye party for the entire town. Lorelai realizes that Luke has been there for her from the beginning and loves her and her daughter. In one of the final scenes of the show, Lorelai and Luke share a passionate kiss and get back together, finally ready to settle into a stable relationship.
In the sixth season, Lorelai and Rory do not talk for months while Luke agrees to marry Lorelai and they renovate her house. When Luke reveals he cannot trust Lorelai after she has received a message from Christopher, the two fight. Lorelai and Rory finally reconcile and she decides to return to Yale. Luke learns he has a daughter but does not tell Lorelai. Lorelai later finds out about Luke’s daughter and they decide to postpone the wedding. When Christopher receives an inheritance, he starts to pay for Yale and the Friday night dinners aren’t so mandatory anymore. After posing an ultimatum to Luke which leads to their break-up, Lorelai finds comfort in Christopher and they start dating again.

When Emily organizes a dinner with Jason’s parents, Jason’s father Floyd announces he is going to sue his son and Richard because they have taken his clients. Floyd also tells Lorelai’s parents about her relationship with his son, which shocks Emily.
