Brandon Ledwidge Dies in a Tragic Gangland Shooting

A young man shot dead in a gangland shooting in Dublin last night has been named locally as Brandon Ledwidge.

Sources say the 23-year-old is believed to have been targeted in the garden of a house on Barry Drive, Finglas.

A gunman who had called to the home opened fire shortly before 7pm and shot the victim four times in the head and body.

According to sources, he was shot at close range and “didn’t stand a chance”.

A handgun is believed to have been used in the attack.

Emergency services and gardaí arrived on the scene within minutes of the first reports of the attack.

Despite the frantic efforts of paramedics, they were unable to save the young man who was pronounced dead a short time later.

Sources last night said one of the lines of inquiry being investigated by gardaí is that the shooting was drug related.

They are probing whether Ledwidge may have been targeted as a result of an association with a known drug dealing faction in the area.

The deceased man had played underage footage as a defender with Finglas Celtic.
