Police say a 27-year-old Peabody man will be charged in relation to a Monday suspected armed robbery at a Kay Jewelers store in Peabody.
A man in all-black attire, a white mask, and a backpack with a note inside were involved in the incident at the Northshore Mall around one in the afternoon, according to police.

The note instructed, “Put everything in the bag,” according to authorities. “I’ll wait two minutes before shooting. Avoid making any noise.
Police stated in a statement that an employee later informed them the man “made a motion to his waist that he had a gun” at one time.

After the incident, according to police, a sergeant noticed the man going close to an access road near the mall while still sporting the white mask. Police said the man attempted to flee the area but was apprehended.
During the arrest, police allegedly discovered multiple stolen watches and necklaces in addition to a black BB gun.
At his arraignment on Tuesday, the suspect is now anticipated to be charged with armed robbery while wearing a mask.
Numerous shops in the mall reportedly had a temporary lockdown as a result of the incident, according to Peabody police, though as of 3 p.m. they were reopened.
There were no injuries in this occurrence.
